Default Bug or...??????

Ok, this happened while fighting in the three way altar fight Broken Tower. The other team was using something with edge of extinction and it seemed as we were backdooring red...it killed everyone on the map instantly.

edge of extincion gone bad?

Edge of extinction: (5 5 60 , Beast mastery ,Nature ritual)
Create a level 1-8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, whenever any creature dies, Edge of Extinction deals 14~43 damage to all nearby creatures of the same type. This Spirit dies after 30-126 seconds.

Remember kids, dont use it too much, it causes a nuclear winter!

Ya, luckily 2 people were a little bit behind us or it would of been instant victory for yellow. Hopefully this isn't another exploit so I'm not gonna explain the specifics and what exactly else the other team used just incase.

if there were something to amplify the damage it would explain the instant death to everyone in the vicinity... but amplifying 43 to 400+ would be tough... Are there other, - if someone dies, everyone gets hurt - spells?

It's a snowball effect, if you're playin 3 teams then 36 people, imagine that several are near death when the spirit is cast and the first person is killed. This is how much dmg, you, with full health (I'll say 450) take as people are killed, assuming that a few are low enough level

-die -total dmg
1 -43 (killing 1 other, plus attack to kill one other)
3 -129 (killing 1 other)
4 -172 (killing 3 others, attacks included)
7 -301 (killing at least 5 in the area)
12 -516 (who is going to survive this)

If you could cast it before people are dead but while most are low on life, it could be quite devastating.

This would take out everyone but the pumped up warriors... This is without amplification... if it can be amplified.

put multiple spirits down. I doubt this should be nerfed though as it pretty much can kill even your own team and only in a set of cicumstances.

Plus, how fun would it be to wipe out the arena

They were using fertile season and simbiosis, my whole team had 1k+ hp

Instant death

And we all died at the same second. If it was a snowball effect there would have been some pause in between.

And also, look how fast yellow got rezzed to full. A res orb takes a few seconds to rez and only rezes you to half hitpoints.

I mean...I just don't see what could do that much damage...our warriors had around 1100 hp and monks the same...and not only did it kill all of us yellow got an instant 100% heal....

Its not going to be gradual, because as soon as someone dies it adds more damage, and continues to repeat like that. If multiple people die the rirtual doesn't have a 1 second pause before assigning damage or something of that sort. If 20 people die everyone will die even wit fertile season, and perhaps they used natures renewal to cut your symbiosis.

It's not a bug at all... Just because you get owned by something unexpected doesn't mean you should think it's a bug.

Now, let's do the math here.
Edge of extinction at 16 does 52 damage, if you do the math it would take around 9 executions of it to kill someone. Now if one person dies it does very little however, if you had a necro team with 1 monk and light of dwayna stay back out of EoE, and 7 necros with death nova/blood is power for suicide. all they would have to do is put disease on your team to slightly lower all of your health, death nova them selves and stand next to a couple of your guys, and then blood is power suicide in a matter of seconds and everyone within the range of the spirit would then be dead for sure. Then the person with light of dwayna would come and res you all. And your team would be the winning team. Edge of extinction works for spirits as well, meaning if 3 spirits die it kills all of the other spirits too, since they are the same race. Not to mention when the person who casted the spirits dies, so do his spirits.

Wait, I've not used Edge of Extinction much in PvP but from what I understand it just deals 40something damage to everyone in the area every time someone dies, right?

Or does it do 40 for the first death, 80 for the next, 160 for the next?

-edit: Just read StandardAI's post-

Okay so 52 damage to everyone in range for every death, rather than going all crazy nuclear hell exponential damage.

It's not a bug. Edge of extinction is just devastating when it starts a chain reaction =\.
